Prof. Dr. Muhammad Gulfraz is a distinguished Scientist and an eminent figure in the field of Biochemistry, with an illustrious career spanning over 35 years. Currently holding the prestigious position of Professor of Biochemistry, Dr. Gulfraz has made significant contributions to the realm of Natural Products Chemistry and Biofuel/Bioenergy production from agricultural biomass. His expertise extends to Biopolymers and industrial chemicals, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical intricacies within these domains.

Dr. Gulfraz's academic journey commenced with an MSc in Biochemistry/Chemistry from Punjab University, Lahore, in 1986, followed by an M.Phil in Biochemistry from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, in 1990. His academic pursuit reached its pinnacle with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the same institution in 2002.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gulfraz has amassed a wealth of experience and accolades, including an impressive Impact Factor of 300, indicative of the high-quality research he has conducted. His extensive list of achievements includes over 350 research publications, garnering a total of 2565 citations and 33936 reads. Notably, he has successfully supervised 16 Ph.D. theses and has been a part of 80 Ph.D. thesis committees. His scholarly impact is further exemplified by his involvement in 103 M.Phil. theses and 100 M.Phil. thesis committees.

Dr. Gulfraz's commitment to advancing knowledge is underscored by his participation in numerous conferences both as an organizer and an attendee. His global engagement is reflected in six foreign travels and post-doctoral studies conducted in Germany and the UK. He has also availed himself of international opportunities, having pursued post-graduation in Germany and short training in China.

As an expert in Natural Products Chemistry, Dr. Gulfraz specializes in the isolation, purification, and chemical characterization of bioactive secondary metabolites from various sources such as olive oil, honey, fruits/vegetables, and medicinal plants. His research interests extend to the production of Bioethanol, Biodiesel, and Biomethane, particularly focusing on utilizing agricultural wastes. His analytical technological expertise encompasses techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, AAS, UV-Visible, and biofermenter applications.

Beyond his research endeavors, Dr. Gulfraz has served in various academic roles, including Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Professor of Biochemistry, further solidifying his dedication to education and academic leadership. Dr. Gulfraz's illustrious career stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering excellence in the field of Biochemistry.
