The office of the Director academics has been established under the leadership of an experienced Professor with the following functions.
Strategic Responsibility
The Director Academics will:
- Liaise with key stakeholders at Grand Asian University, Sialkot including senior staff (e.g. Deans, Heads of Academic Departments, Programme Directors, Admissions office, ), with other appropriate bodies. Some relationships may also need to be developed with other external stakeholders.
- Maintain good relationships with all Stakeholders acting as a positive ambassador.
- Provide the Centre Director with advice and support on all academic matters in light of commercial imperatives and financial targets as required
- Contribute to the development and communication of Centre plans.
- To promote and act as a role model for the delivery of an excellent customer and stakeholder experience
Academic Leadership
- Provide effective management of quality inclusive teaching and learning to give students the best opportunity to maximize their academic potential and progress to their choice of University.
- Ensure that all necessary strategies, policies and procedures are in place to assess and report on student performance and progression to key stakeholders.
- Develop, lead and co-ordinate teaching programs and teaching resource in the most efficient and effective way (particularly with reference to curriculum review, timetabling, assessments and staff deployment) with an understanding of the center’s commercial targets, the maximizing of student progression and optimum student satisfaction levels.
- Liaise with the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) on validation and accreditation processes, and in ensuring QA policies are followed to maintain educational oversight.
Leading and Managing
- Create an academic organizational structure that reflects the Centre goals and values, and enables the management of systems, structures and processes to work effectively in line with legal requirements, corporate requirements and budget.
- Provide dynamic, consistent and motivational leadership for the academic team and its employees, ensuring the successful delivery of the vision and objectives of the Centre.
- Promote best practice in all aspects of work, championing role model behavior and delivery to maximize customer service.
- Ensure academic activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Maintain and develop an Academic Quality Framework which includes policies, processes and procedures to ensure that GAUS programs their delivery and their assessments meet the needs of all stakeholders.
- Maintain and develop policies, processes and procedures to ensure that centers provide an excellent academic experience for their students resulting in students being placed at appropriate universities.
- Work with the GAUS quality committees and the External Academic Auditor to ensure that those charged with academic oversight have appropriate information on which to base decisions.
- Maintain and develop an appropriate assessment framework, which ensures the production of high quality assessment instruments, which are appropriately marked and lead to fair and consistent awards.
- Oversee the recruitment and management of external academic consultants who develop, maintain and approve syllabuses and assessments and moderate the marking of assessments.
- Propose and manage the Academic Directorate budget ensuring that all essential activities are supported and that services are cost effective.
- Develop and maintain a suite of academic products that are competitive in the market to ensure appropriate outcomes for students, including appropriate use of digital tools for both delivery and support.
- Determine and keep under review entry requirements for GAUS programs, ensuring that academic standards are maintained whilst maintaining competitiveness in the market place.
- Oversee all aspects of academic reporting including performance of students studying GAUS outcomes, placement to partner universities and student performance at partner institutions.
- Oversee all aspects of the GAUS placement service which routes students to partner universities, ensuring that targets and key performance indicators are met.
- Ensure that delivery centers and their staff are supported in the delivery of GAUS programs through the development of training and support packages and events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with university staff to ensure the recognition of GAUS programs and services.
- Ensure that all of aspects of the Academic Directorate’s operations have appropriate IT support.
- Report to SLT (Students leadership team) and the GAUS Board on all aspects Academic Directorate performance.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the status of the post, as deemed necessary by the university authorities
