Functions of QEC
The Quality Enhancement Cell monitors academic quality through self-assessment, program reviews, stakeholder feedback, institutional evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. It supports departments in maintaining HEC quality assurance standards and achieving academic excellence.
- The QEC is headed by the Director, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor, and serves as the correspondent with outside bodies.
- Promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
- Reviewing quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
- Reviewing academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
- Defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference for the reviews carried out.
- Ensuring a qualifications framework — the attributes and abilities expected from the holder of a qualification (Bachelor’s, M.Phil, etc.).
- Ensuring program specifications — a standard set of information clarifying the knowledge, understanding, skills, and other attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.
- Developing quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that quality and standards are being maintained, fostering curriculum, subject, and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
- Ensuring the university’s quality assurance procedures align with national arrangements for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
- Performing any other tasks assigned by the Vice Chancellor / Board.
