Program description

Department of Zoology has been established with the aim of teaching BS, M. Phil, PhD and Honors programs. It is one of the leading departments in the university. The high profile motivated faculty loaded with initiative and drive is key strength of the Department. The fully equipped laboratories, well-furnished class rooms and updated spacious library provide the best possible facilities to the students in their academic pursuits. All the faculty members are highly qualified and contribute effectively in promoting research activities in the department. It has state-of-the-art laborites fully equipped with the related equipment’s academics programs running in the department.

Mission

To meet the dire need of coming decades, the Department of Zoology is committed to impart most recent and updated education to students, to deliver society-oriented and need- based research, to promote academia-industry linkage, to hold regular seminars by invited speakers and subject specialists for the scientific grooming of students and faculty and to develop a collaboration both at national and international levels.

Vision

To align multidisciplinary approaches towards wide areas of biological sciences. The department strives to be a center of excellence in teaching as well as in diverse areas of research to promote knowledge, skills and expertise in students required to serve the society as educators, University/College teachers, research scientists and administrators.

Goals

To impart knowledge about various disciplines of Zoology.

To equip the students with professional skills.

To establish culture of scientific research.

To educate students about animal’s disease causes, vectors, life cycles and treatment

To improve the quality and quantity of animal based food through research

To train students for better planning and management of animal resources and environment.

Scope

The scientific interest and the popular nature and media value of certain animals make them attractive to many researchers and fellow citizens. Those who are fond of nature and promotes the creation of scientific societies or non-governmental organizations dedicated to their study and conservation.

The scope of zoology in Pakistan has a strong grip over career you choose. Many of the large international NGOs are dedicated to the protection of the environment use animals as models, with which to diagnose the state of conservation of nature and develop the conservation debate in public opinion. The information provided by the Faculty of Biology shows that the specialty in Zoology has been one of the most successful of others.
