Program description
Civil Engineers cater for the national and international needs of construction/design of buildings, highways, dams, bridges, irrigation network and water supply systems. Department of Civil Engineering has been established to meet the challenges of the contemporary needs. The Department of Civil Engineering seeks to train students who will take initiative in all the fields of civil engineering. The Department offers full-time course of four years duration leading to the degree of BS in Civil Engineering. Programs will emphasize on industry and research based projects, which would enhance student’s skills to become successful professionals for a holistic development. Plans are also underway to establish the Advanced Centers of Research in this field. At the undergraduate level, emphasis is laid on the fundamental concepts and principles constituting the basis of Civil Engineering practice. Keeping in view the local requirements of water management for agriculture, Master classes are also planned for future especially in the field of irrigation and water management.

Civil engineers have become experts in creating sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings and systems. Multiplied over many communities, the energy and emissions savings can make a real difference in the environment.
Civil engineering is open to many career opportunities and handles different types of projects like construction and rehabilitation of buildings, roadways, railways, skyscrapers, urban establishments, agricultural storages and development of new materials and procedures etc. Safety and security are important parts of civil planning, and civil engineers have a unique opportunity to engineer buildings and structures that keep people safe and minimize the risks of injury and harm.

Civil engineering is the branch of engineering that will teach you as to how to develop and manage our society for a better future. The buildings, bridges, dams and other facilities designed, constructed and managed by civil engineers always remain a sign of pride and professional satisfaction for them. At the Grand Asian University, Sialkot, civil engineering curriculum has been developed to include all the modern aspects of this engineering field to be taught under the Outcome Based Education (OBE) System.
